Suburban Philly based 4x3, LLC worked with the Facilities and Real Estate Services (FRES) team at Penn to redesign and redevelop their university Web presence. The project included an upgrade of the campus map to Google Maps API V3 and a complete site redesign to align with Penn's new Web template standards. 4x3 customized and integrated the Google Maps API directly into the Drupal CMS for the University of Pennsylvania's campus map.
Google Maps API custom design and site integration
The campus map includes all of the University of Pennsylvania's managed facilities including buildings, parking lots, public art and bicycle racks. Each map location includes specific details including photos, accessibility information, art creators, year created or constructed and even bike rack capacity.
Custom programmed user login
The University of Pennsylvania utilizes the Cosign login system, referred to as PennKey, campus-wide. Cosign was initially developed and is still in use at the University of Michigan. 4x3 custom programmed and fully integrated the PennKey system into the Drupal 7 install. The new FRES website features a fully integrated secure (SSL) Drupal administrative interface with multiple login levels directly connected to Penn approved group access levels. A FRES department intranet and Penn Community section are accessible to users based on the same approved PennKey access levels.
A contact database lists and connects to map locations and building displays and is also viewed based on user levels. Users with more access can view more specific information or different areas of the website. Facilities and Real Estate Services provides the expertise, business process, policies and standards required to plan, design, construct, operate, maintain and renew the physical assets of the University of Pennsylvania.
4x3 is proud our our relationship we've developed over the years with FRES at the University of Pennsylvania.
