4x3 Ideas

May 29, 2013

I try not to be a pressure salesman, but it may be time to re-evaluate what our website is doing for us. Not just you our clients but 4x3 - our site - our focus - the future of our industry. In the past we have been offering mobile sites and responsive design as an option. And maybe we're just not selling the options hard enough. Maybe we're just not doing our job to make you understand what's happening and how very important is to keep up.

We've always considered our firm as leading edge, not cutting edge. The distinction may seem subtle but it is clear to us. Cutting edge implies the latest and greatest and we all want that, right! but leading edge takes a hard look at your ROI and says, "sure we know you want that, but is it really a cost effective option?" I feel like we are quickly approaching the point where we need to push the responsiveness of your website.

We need to evaluate how content is being delivered to you our clients, and consequently how your content is being delivered to your clients. I believe it's time.

4x3 is proud to announce the completion and launching of the Tri Supply & Equipment website. 4x3 designed and developed this content-managed website for Tri Supply & Equipment. The updated site was designed to allow Tri Supply and Equipment's loyal client base easy access to information on parts and servies.

The site was designed and programmed with a customized version of the open source, content management solution, Drupal.

"It truly has been a pleasure to work with the team at 4x3! Our site was dull and stuck in the 90’s and now we are proud to showcase a website that was designed  by 4x3 to represent the Tri-Supply & Equipment brand. Thank you all at 4x3 for your hard work!"

When building a new website, it's not uncommon for something (sometimes everything) to go wrong along the way. And once you've solved the same problem a couple times, solving it every time after that is like working through a flow chart.

So for anyone who is struggling with a problem in Drupal, here's a handy infographic covering the first step I always take when trying to fix an issue.

Clear the Cache

Clearing the cache isn't a guaranteed fix, but it's a great place to start and can fix plenty of potential issues.

For all those problems that clearing the cache doesn't solve, check back for more flow charts in the future. Rachel Schmitz is a 4x3 interactive designer and professional cache clearer from way back.

4x3 worked with the Facilities and Real Estate Services (FRES) team at the University of Pennsylvania to redesign and redevelop their university web presence.

In addition to a Drupal 7 upgrade an migration, the project included an upgrade of the campus map to Google Maps API V3 and a complete site redesign to align with Penn's new Web template standards.
