The EAT Café

On October 26, Philadelphia’s first nonprofit, pay-what-you-can restaurant opened for business! And for the many Philadelphians who cannot afford a quality meal, EAT Café is a step toward hungry-free communities. 4x3 is proud to have worked with SK Designworks to develop a beautiful website incorporating menus, graphics, news and insight about the cafe.

In an interview with Busniess Insider, Eat Café's general manager Donnell Jones-Craven said, "I want people to have the opportunity to fulfill each other’s need for community — real community, and share experiences, embrace differences and have dignity and respect amongst all. The truth is we all need each other."

EAT Café's central goal is to help ease the food insecurity that impacts nearly one in four Philadelphians, while helping to bring the community together.

THE FUTURE OF MARKETING

4x3 designed a custom Geofilter for the annual Odessa Brewfest, which allows guests to celebrate their favorite craft beer and to commemorate being at the event. With predominantly young Snapchat audiences, this social platform is perfect for social media marketing towards teens and Millennials. And with very few small business and brands taking the step to use Geofilters, the market is perfect because it is under-saturated.

4x3 News

October 28, 2016

On October 26, Philadelphia’s first nonprofit, pay-what-you-can restaurant opened for business! And for the many Philadelphians who cannot afford a quality meal, EAT Café is a step toward hungry-free communities.

Everyone at the Table

EAT Café - which stands for "Everyone at the Table" - is a partnership among a collection of groups including Drexel’s Center for Hunger-Free Communities, Drexel’s Center for Hospitality & Sport Management, and the Vetri Community Partnership.

EAT Café's central goal is to help ease the food insecurity that impacts nearly one in four Philadelphians, while helping to bring the community together.

Pay-What-You-Can

Diners coming to the EAT Café will be given a menu with a suggested price. At the end of their meal, a check will be delivered and each can choose what they pay – the full amount, more, less or nothing at all.

EAT Café will serve dinner every Wednesday–Saturday from 4:30–8 p.m. All are welcome to dine at the community table and pay what they are able to for dinner. Donnell Jones-Craven (pictured) is acting as general manager and head chef at the café, which was created to nourish, educate and unite the community.'

In an interview with Business Insider, Donnell Jones-Craven said, "I want people to have the opportunity to fulfill each other’s need for community — real community, and share experiences, embrace differences and have dignity and respect amongst all. The truth is we all need each other."

Support EAT Café

EAT Café's ongoing operating costs must be met through our café operations, additional grants and other funding, and in-kind support. There are many ways you can make a contribution to support our work and mission.

  1. Dine - by coming to the café for a meal, you are providing critical support to the restaurant and the community.
  2. Donate - either in-person or online financial donations allows EAT Café to help offset the cost of someone else’s meal.
  3. Volunteer - as a non-profit, EAT Café always needs volunteers to help with everything from community outreach to special event staffing.

Any donations to support EAT Café directly benefit the community and the fight against hunger in Philadelphia.

4x3 supports EAT Café by offering free web hosting. We worked with our partner SK Designworks to create an organized expandable website for both EAT Café and their partner, The Center for Hunger-Free Communities (CHFC).

4x3 Ideas

October 13, 2016

As 4x3’s newest employee, I have quickly learned that 4x3 is always trying to improve its services for its clients.

This is immediately evident with 4x3’s most recent venture: Snapchat Geofilters.

What is a Geofilter?

Honestly, if you don’t know just ask your son or daughter to show you. But just in case they are not readily on hand, I’ll let you in on the secret.

Essentially, a Snapchat Geofilter is a special image overlay on the app that signifies the "where" and "when" of a location or event.

For example, 4x3 designed a Geofilter for the annual Odessa Brewfest. The custom Geofilter appeared during the festival and allowed anyone who attended the event to use the filter on Snapchat. Everyone shared snaps with their friends using the filter to celebrate their favorite craft beer and to commemorate being at the event. At the end of the day, there was a total of 3,000 uses and views!

Overall, it’s a great way to have customers promote your products and events for you!

You got it now? Great!

Why Snapchat?

If you didn’t already know, Snapchat has 18 billion daily users! That’s like 9,000 snaps per second! Which means Snapchat has surpassed Facebook in number of daily video views.

With predominantly young Snapchat audiences, this social platform is perfect for social media marketing towards teens and Millennials. Visually strong brands - such as beauty, fashion, and sportswear - lead the way in terms of Snapchat adoption. But that doesn't mean you can't too! With very few small business and brands taking the step to use Geofilters, the market is under-saturated.

So that makes Snapchat a great marketing opportunity.

And it’s cheap too! Snapchat only charges $5 per 20,000 square feet where the filter can be used. And the marketing you get from users basically pays for itself. Geofilters make it easier for your audience to engage and promote your product or brand organically.

From an event and location-based marketing perspective, Geofilters are the future of marketing.
